Calhoun Co. vs HKT Photo Gallery

It looked easy early on but Calhoun County survived a huge comeback by Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High School to win the Boys 1A Upper State Championship on Saturday. 2009 PG Alshaun Jeffrey (pictured) helped CC continue their 2 season long winning streak to 47 games. Come inside for a look at some of the action.

Exclusive photos of the 1A Boys Upper State Championship game at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC. Calhoun County boasts a stud in 2009 PG Alshaun Jeffries (Jeffrey is the correct spelling, we will correct it within the Scout.com network very soon). In the early going this one had the makings of a blowout but a gritty Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans team almost came back and caught the undefeated Saints. Coach Zam Fredrick's Saints ultimately were victorious 55-49 and pushed their winning streak to 47 games.

Jeffrey had a solid game from a point guard's aspect by finding open teammates. He also rebounded well for the Saints. Foul trouble however kept him on eggshells until he finally fouled out with 2:10 to go in the game. Teammate Henry Johnson, a senior, though had a terrific game scoring 16 points with his 2 biggest of the night on a putback off a missed shot to help fend off the late HKT charge. Zam Fredrick after the game had this to say about the shot by Johnson, "That was really the play that decided the game."

Johnson put up 16 for the Saints but their leading scorer was junior guard David Glover who put up a game-high 21 points.

For the Trojans Antonio James also scored a game-high 21 points while David Jenkins was the only other Trojan in double figures with 11. The Trojans shouldn't hang their heads low though as they have 12 players returning to next year's team. Coach Kevin Wright will have plenty of options to try and make a run again next season.

The Saints will also be deep with experience next season as they will return 9 players headed by Jeffrey and Glover.
