09' Intro: Timberland High RB Rockarius King

Timberland High School sophomore RB Rockarius King had a break out season last year amassing over 2300 yards on the ground. King is quickly setting the tone to be one of the top prospects in the class of 2009. Come inside with SCPrepNation.com as we bring you the latest on the sophomore standout from St. Stephen, South Carolina.

Last season Timberland High School posted an impressive 13-2 record capturing the Class AAA Lower State Championship. With a number of talented prospects returning, the Timberland Wolves should be a heavy favorite for the Class AAA state football championship. Timberland was led by their highly touted running back Rockarius King, last year's Statewide Sophomore Player of the Year. King will be returning for his junior season this year. SCPrepNation.com caught up with King to see how things were going for the class of 2009 prospect.

At 5'7" 177 pounds, Rockarius is certainly not the biggest guy on the field, but trying to bring him down is definitely no small task. He certainly proved it on the field last season. Rockarius had an absolute phenomenal season last year as a sophomore putting up several eye popping numbers in numerous categories. "Last season, I scored 33 touchdowns," said King. "I also had 2,729 All-purpose yards last season." In a region game against Stall High School, Rockarius ran for a massive 232 yards and 6 touchdowns.

We asked King to give us a breakdown of his running style/abilities. "My style is somewhat between a dancer and a slasher with a little bit of power, but I don't like to dance that much. My strengths on the field are speed, vision (I can see the field well), and I know how to read the blocks." King also mentioned some of the areas that he would like to work on. "I really want to work on my blocking skills," said King. "I want to work on my cuts, and I want to get faster. I just want to do whatever I need to do to be a better player."

With the summer months approaching, that could only mean one thing, Football Camps. Rockarius is currently making plans to do a little bit of camping over the summer "I want to go to the Clemson and South Carolina camps this summer. I've been getting camp information from other schools, but those are the two main camps that I want to attend this summer."

During our conversation, SCPrepNation.com found Rockarius King to be quite a young man with a modest approach. He absolutely refused to take all of the credit for his success. "My teammates and my coaching staff play a huge role in my success. The offensive line, the receivers, and the fullbacks, they make great blocks for me. But without God, none of this would be possible, I can't forget about him."

SCPrepNation.com will bring you more on Rockarius King, as he continues to work towards this upcoming junior season.
