Omar Sanders: New Schools Showing Interest

Omar Sanders is a well known commodity in the upstate of South Carolina and his name is starting to get out to more college coaches in the southeast region. After his outstanding play this past weekend an ACC school is among the new suitors taking a strong look at Sanders.

Omar Sanders has always had the potential and it's starting to come together for the talented 2008 prospect from Spartanburg High School. On his high school team Sanders mans the post for Doug Lowe's team but on the AAU circuit Sanders plays both forward slots and from the looks of things he eventually may end up at the small forward slot.

Playing for Team Truth headed by coaches Curtis Wheeler and Damien Days Sanders had somewhat of a breakout this past weekend. Team Truth competed in the and was without the services of LaRon Dendy so Omar Sanders tackled more of the load and college coaches have been scrambling to gather information about the 6'8 Sanders.

Two schools that have jumped in as of this past weekend are Florida State and Wichita State. Sanders in fact earned an invite to Florida State's Elite Camp for a chance to show his abilities and visit the campus in Tallahassee. Schools such as South Carolina, Ole Miss, High Point, Georgia Tech, and Winthrop have been recruiting Sanders for quite some time.

An all-state selection this past season Sanders already has his first scholarship offer in hand from the High Point Panthers. As the big man becomes more consistent from midrange and with his handles we expect his list of offers to grow.

SCPrepNation.com will have more on Omar Sanders throughout the AAU season and as his senior season quickly approaches.
