Several of the programs aforementioned have been making special appearances at Hanahan High during the evaluation period to get a closer look at the 2008 standout. Many of them came away impressed with what he's shown on the field during his team's spring practice. "Most of them have been saying that I'm very mechanical and that they like my form a lot. They also like my decision making skills."
Despite having such a productive season on the field last year, Carnell feels that there is plenty of room for improvement. He has been working diligently to hone his skills for upcoming 2007 season. "My speed and my escaping ability is definitely what I've been focusing on, Carnell said. "A lot if people said that I couldn't get out of the pocket quick enough, but I think I'll be able to show a lot of people that I can this year. I've been working hard to get my hips loose and moving my feet a lot to improve on my footwork."
There's no specific time for when Carnell will make a decision. He's continuing to gather information on schools to determine where he feels most comfortable. "I want to go wherever I'll be able to have a shot to play. It doesn't necessarily have to be my freshman year but sometime down the road. I'm also looking for a place where the coach and I can be on a personal level."
When asked about any personal goals for the upcoming season, Carnell simply stated, "I want to be able to take the team farther in the play-offs. I also want to cut down on interceptions, and be a better playmaker. I want to do everything that I can to make next season a success."
