Hanahan WR Branden Ford: Star on the Rise

Hanahan High School wide receiver Branden Ford is emerging into one of the top prospects in the state for the Class of 2008. Standing at 6-4, and weighing in at 200 pounds, Branden has the size that college coaches covet in a receiver. SCPrepNation.com caught up with the Hanahan High star to get the latest.

Last season Branden Ford hauled in 63 catches for 650 yards for the Hanahan Hawks. He used his 6-4, 205 pound frame to create several mismatches against his opponents. In one game alone, he pulled in 15 catches for 150 yards and one touchdown. The 2006 All-Region selection will be returning for his final season this fall.

Several programs have been making an early push for the talented wideout. "I've been getting interest from South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, NC State, Georgia Southern, Georgia, and a few others."

Though Branden says he's considering the idea of playing in his home state, he seems open to going anywhere as long as it seems to be the correct fit. "I like South Carolina," Branden said. "But it really wouldn't matter if I had to travel. Distance is really not a major factor for me. I want to go with whoever has the best program that I can fit in."

Branden who has already been on several campus visits/junior days will be having quite an eventful summer. He will be attending a number of 7 on 7 passing camps at South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Charleston Southern with his high school team.

Following his busy summer, he will be returning to Hanahan to get ready for his final season of high school football. He has set high standards for his upcoming senior year. "Personally speaking, I want to catch 80 passes for 1600 yards this season," Branden said. I want to show everybody that I can be a big playmaker on the field. I want to do all I can to help my team win a state championship this year."

SCPrepNation.com will bring you more on Branden Ford he prepares for the upcoming summer months.

Here's what Branden Ford had to say about his two favorite wide receivers:
Marvin Harrison - He doesn't talk a whole lot of trash; he lets his game speak for him on the field. I think he's a very humble player.
Calvin Johnson - He's a big time playmaker. He's big, he's fast; he can do it all.
