08' Intro: Hanna QB Tyler Brennan

The T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets without RB Brian Maddox getting a ton of carries will now put a lot of the offensive load on the shoulders of quarterback Tyler Brennan. The 2008 signal caller gives us an update on his recruitment and offseason plans inside.

There's a great group of quarterbacks in the Palmetto State for the class of 2008. T.L. Hanna High School has a prospect in Tyler Brennan who is hearing from a number of schools early on. SCPrepNation.com caught up with Brennan and he gave us an update on how things are going for him on the recruiting front and what his ambitions are for this upcoming season.

Last year Tyler Brennan passed for over 1600 yards which isn't bad considering that Hanna boasted South Carolina signee Brian Maddox at running back. While Maddox got a ton of carries Brennan also had a great receiver in Cameron Ford so he was able to find the open man when Maddox wasn't toting the pigskin. This coming season Brennan says he'll have a strong group of players around him again to help move the Yellow Jacket offense. "This year my top two receivers will probably be Clinton Payton and Phillip Silverstein. Clinton Payton is a wide receiver and Phillip Silverstein is a big tight end. At running back will probably be Cedric Henderson, he's a little small but he is really quick. He and Brandon Williams will both get to run the ball for us."

To go with those 1600+ yards last season Tyler threw 15 touchdowns and rushed for over 200 yards on the ground scoring 2 touchdowns. This coming season he's eager to improve those numbers. "Next season I'd like to pass for over 2,000 yards and throw at least 20 touchdowns."

His offseason has already included a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina to attend the Scout.com All-American Combine. Measuring 6'3 195 pounds Tyler has nice size and shows good mechanics and accuracy when throwing the ball. He wasn't happy with his performance at the combine and says there's plenty of work for him to do to improve his numbers to his own liking. The hunger to improve is clearly apparent with the Hanna signal caller. The thunder and lightning that ended the combine early were clearly disappointing to the Yellow Jacket star as he felt he could've impressed with his accuracy and ability.

More stops will be on the calendar for Tyler Brennan this summer. "I'm going to camps at North Carolina State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest. I'm also going to the Air 7 Camp in Connecticut too. The team will be competing at the Byrnes High and Clemson University 7 on 7's too."

In regards to his recruitment Brennan said, "As of late NC State, Auburn, Illinois, and Penn State have been sending me the most mail on a regular basis. All of the ACC schools have also been on me pretty hard too."

While he currently doesn't have any scholarship offers he said that he's most interested in NC State, Wake Forest, and Auburn the most right now. Academics, strength of the football team, and early playing time will be some of the big factors in his decision making process.

Last season Brennan nearly pulled off a huge upset of the Gaffney Indians as they lead heading into the fourth quarter before succumbing to the eventual Big 16 AAAA state champions. "I think the game against Gaffney was my best game. I threw for about 200 yards or so. It proved a lot about our team in that we have the ability to stay with the top team in the state and we almost had them beat. They came out on top though."

With a number or prominent schools showing interest in him Brennan shared with us his timetable on making a decision. "Right now I really don't have any idea. I know it probably won't be a quick decision. I'll wait until later on in the process before I decide."

Tyler Brennan's Favorite Player
"I'd have to say Peyton Manning. I like how calm he is and how he does it so effortlessly. The thing about is that he's still the top passing quarterback in the NFL at the same time."
