Timberland High Stocked With Young Talent

RB Rockarius King, OL Quinten Washington (pictured), and TE/DE Aldrick Fordham are three exceptional young men from Timberland HS that will make the class of 2009 a highly anticipated one. SCPrepNation.com caught up with their head coach, Art Craig to get a quick update on their early recruitment.

SCPrepNation.com caught up with Timberland High School football coach Art Craig recently as the AAA state runner-ups will try to make their trip to Williams-Brice Stadium a victorious one next season. Coach Craig talks about class of 2009 standouts RB Rockarius King, OL Quinten Washington, and TE/DE Aldrick Fordham and their recruitment.

Coach Craig on RB Rockarius King:
Clemson has been looking at Rockarius. As you know, Clemson likes the smaller backs, and he's a small back at 5-7, 180 pounds. At the All-State combine he ran a 4.46 in the forty, had a vertical leap of 35 inches, and bench pressed 185 pounds 22 times. So Clemson in interested, and of course all of your DI-AA schools are hoping for him to fall between the cracks.

Coach Craig on OL Quinten Washington:
Quinten has picked up offers from South Carolina and Clemson. Both schools saw his film from the championship game last year and offered him scholarships. He's a legit 6-4, 322 pounds. He went up to the All-State Combine and had a vertical leap of 31 inches at 322 pounds… He squats 565 pounds, has a bench press of 360 pounds and a power clean of 300 pounds. We're talking about a kid that just turned 16 years old… He's legit, he's a hard worker. He made his first start during his freshman year, and has played in a total of 27 football games already.

Coach Craig on TE/DE Aldrick Fordham:
Aldrick Fordham is our big TE/DE at 6-3, 230 pounds. He played real well in the state championship game for us. SC State came down and watched us on our last day of spring practice and he received his first scholarship offer from them.

Coach Craig's Final Thoughts:
The 2009 class is unbelievable. They're a different group of kids. We knew they were going to be a special class. You got Quinten Washington, Rockarius King, and Aldrick Fordham. You don't get a group like that very often. So far they're keeping up their grades, and they're all doing what they're supposed to be doing.

It will be interesting to see how this young group evolves heading into the fall. SCPrepNation.com will keep you posted on the status of these fine young prospects from St. Stephen, South Carolina.
