SCPrepNation.com catches up with coach Jay Frye to give us a preview. Patience will be a key this season for the young Cavaliers.

OFFENSE
Who will be the starting quarterback for Richland Northeast this fall? The Cavaliers currently have two young signal callers competing for the starting job in rising sophomore Kersean Wilson and rising junior Derrick Frost. Whoever plays under center should get immediate help from wideouts Kenny Upshaw, and Joshua Young. RNE should have a couple of bright spots at the running back position(s) with Alexander Greene and Harrison Oxendine leading the attack. The Cavaliers will rely on Tyman Robinson to be the leader of an offensive line unit that could possibly start 3 to 4 sophomores this fall.

Style of Offense: Spread

Player(s) to Watch on Offense: WR Kenny Upshaw, WR Joshua Young, RB Alexander Greene, RB Harrison Oxendine, QB Kersean Wilson, QB Derrick Frost

DEFENSE
Richland Northeast has produced a number of high profiled athletes in Rodney Paulk (South Carolina), Adam Patterson (Michigan), Mark Barnes (South Carolina), and Gary Gray (Notre Dame). This season, keep an eye on rising senior LB Chaz Washington, and rising junior DL Chris Bonds. Both Washington and Bonds have been generating interest from several major programs across the country.

Defensive Formation: 4-3

Key Player(s) on Defense: LB Chaz Washington, DL Chris Bonds, DL Michael Peppers, S Leonard Paulk, DB Juston Posey

Transfer/Newcomer That Should Contribute Early: WR Joshua Young

Final Thoughts: "We're excited about the youth, and about all of the young players that are coming in. Hopefully they will be able to adapt real fast and be ready for our first game. It may be a little while, but we're going to be patient about it. – Coach Jay Frye
