Gaffney's Levor Ross Hearing From SEC Schools

Gaffney has continued to dominate the AAAA ranks over the last few seasons with back to back state championships. DT Levor Ross is a "big" reason why the Indians are geared up for another run to Williams Brice Stadium. Two SEC programs are taking notice and recruiting the Gaffney star pretty hard. Come inside and learn more about Levor Ross.

Defensive linemen don't get the love or notoriety that the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, linebackers, and others get most of the time. We at are doing our part to showcase some of the top linemen in the Palmetto State. Gaffney has won back to back state championships and their defense has been a big reason for their success. DT Levor Ross has seen his recruitment take off since last season and we caught up with Levor for all the latest.

Standing 6'2 280 pounds Levor already has good size and the young man has put in work in the weight room as well. With maximums of 340 on the bench press, 485 on the squat, and running 5.1 seconds in the 40 yard dash it's easy to see why schools have been actively recruiting him.

In regards to his recruitment Levor says, "Tennessee and South Carolina are the big schools I'm hearing from. Those two are my leaders. Right now South Carolina is recruiting me the hardest though."

Gaffney has been hard at work during the offseason and Levor continues to press on to make improvements along with his teammates. "I'm working on improving my speed this summer." While he will work to get faster an area where Levor excels is sheer toughness on the field. Teams try to run away from the talented big man as he helps anchor the Indians defensive line.

We couldn't conduct the interview without asking Levor his thoughts on Gaffney's chances to win it all again next season for a three-peat. He emphatically responded, "Man yes, we want to go 15-0 again." Last year the Indians had stars like SC's Mr. Football in QB Malcolm Long and standout WR Tyson Petty. Ross says this year's team will try to go 15-0 again but that they did lose a lot of good seniors from last year's team like Long and Petty.

Ross didn't initially start out at Gaffney but down the road at Blacksburg High. It was there that he faced his toughest opponent in his career. "Toughest guy I ever had to play against was 2 years ago when I was at Blacksburg. He played for Landrum." As for the toughest team he's faced Ross said that Byrnes High posed the toughest challenge for him during his career.

Levor's stock should continue to rise and will keep you updated on his recruitment as we quickly approach next season.
