Wallace Making Waves In NBA Summer League

Brandon Wallace at times played like a superstar and other times like a guy lost in the shuffle. After leaving Dave Odom's program he's wowing NBA scouts with his play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Come inside and see what the former Silver Bluff High standout is up to.

If you would've told me Brandon Wallace had a legitimate chance to be playing in the NBA over the last couple of years I would've laughed at you. Wallace a former star at Silver Bluff High School and the University of South Carolina has taken the "potential" that many including myself saw in him coming out of high school and started to maximize it at the right time apparently.

I was raving about the star from Aiken and so were Gamecock fans once he committed to USC. It was a great signing for the program and Wallace had the tools to become a superstar but it never really panned out that way.

After watching him have an up and down career in Columbia I would've guessed a career in Europe was in store for Wallace. Wallace signed with Eric Fleisher (Kevin Garnett's agent) and has put together a nice run so far for the Boston Celtics in the NBA Summer League.

In his first game against the Portland Trail Blazers (including #1 overall pick Greg Oden) Wallace put up 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, and a steal in 26 minutes of action.

Monday saw Wallace get 25 minutes of playing time and he responded with 4 points, 5 boards, and a steal against the San Antonio Spurs in a 61-53 loss.

Wallace's versatility has always been intriguing and although he's playing for the Celtics you rest assured other NBA teams are taking a close look at his overall abilities.

SCPrepNation.com will keep a close eye on Brandon Wallace's progress as he attempts to stick with an NBA team. Here's to hoping that the former Silver Bluff High star proves me and others wrong in the end.
