UP NEXT: Porter Gaud SG Khris Middleton

We profile arguably one of the hottest players not only in the Palmetto State but in the southeast region in Porter Gaud SG Khris Middleton. Come inside and learn more about the talented shooting guard whose stock has risen at a rampant pace recently with ACC and SEC schools showing early interest.

Don't let the babyface fool you. Khris Middleton of Porter-Gaud is a beast on the hardwood. The class of 2009 stud has continued a steady climb up our state player rankings and it's going to be hard for him not to be in the top 3 judging by his recent play.

We caught up with the Porter Gaud shooting guard for an update concerning his recruitment and outlook for next season. The last few days Middleton has been lighting up opponents for the Carolina Celtics in Orlando Florida at the AAU Super Showcase in the 16U field.

Middleton spoke about his thoughts on playing with the Celtics. "It's been great, I have great teammates and we are starting to jell as a team and we now feel we should win every game that we play." Those battles on the AAU circuit have been tremendous but Middleton recalls one player in particular that was the toughest he's had to face. "Dominic Cheek."

With Middleton he has the babyface but don't get it twisted he stands 6'6 and weighs in at 195 pounds. Add to that he's a shooting guard and scores at a prolific pace and it's easy to see why he's got a handful of schools who are already trying to state their case for his commitment. "Right now I'm hearing from Clemson, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Charleston Southern, St. Joesph's, College of Charleston, South Carolina, USC Upstate, Wichita State, and Wofford. My recruitment has just started so those schools are all pretty even."

Middleton has already taken a couple of unofficial visits he says. "I've attended elite camps at Clemson and Virginia where I met both coaching staffs and toured the campus." Some key factors will play a vital role in the decision making process for Khris. "A school that I am comfortable with who also has a great reputation in both their academic program and basketball program."

Last season while at Porter Gaud Khris averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds per game. This offseason on the AAU circuit he's grown by leaps and bounds putting up 20+ points quite often per game against some of the country's elite players.

When we asked him to give us a self analysis of his strengths and weaknesses he offered us the following. "I would describe my game as a complete player. I see the floor very well and I can score from inside and out. The areas I want to work on the most are my quickness and strength."

Khris recalled some of his fondest memories on the court for us as well. "I would say at the Charlie Weber tournament when I hit 6 three pointers in the championship game and also when I scored 18 points in the first half against the Georgia Stars at the Bob Gibbons TOC." Middleton's goal for next season is the same for almost all Palmetto State prep athletes in that he wants to help lead his team to a state championship.
