Smith will be in uniform once again this fall to reclaim his starring role as the feature back for the Islanders. Come inside with SCPrepNation.com as we unveil another one of the Lowcountry's finest.

Meet Michael Smith, a 5-11, 210 pounds running back prospect from St. John's High School. Though he may not be well-known on the national scene, you can rest assure he will open the eyes of many in the Palmetto State this fall.

Last season Smith ran for an impressive 1400 yards on 198 carries and 18 touchdowns. When asked about his most memorable performance from a season ago, Smith wasted very little time answering. "My best game last season was against Woodland High School. I had 258 yards rushing, and scored 3 touchdowns in that game."

Smith informed SCPrepNation.com of various programs that have been expressing interest in him, but he currently doesn't have a clear cut favorite. The John's Island native is open to which ever program decides to make him a top priority. "I've been getting letters from Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, SC State, and Coastal Carolina so far," Smith said. "I'm just looking for a school that has a good academic program with athletics following closely behind. I'm pretty open right now."

After showing much promise on last season, Smith is very aware of the expectation level for this season. With that being said, Smith shares with SCPrepNation.com what he has been working on in order to meet those expectations… "I've been working very hard trying to improve on everything that I can to have a really good season this year," Smith said. "I've been running hard, lifting weights/exercising, and eating right. My goal is to get 2500 yards this year on the ground."

Stay tuned for more as Michael Smith prepares for his senior campaign.
