Byrnes may have been the highest rated team playing in Week 0 but it was the battle between T.L. Hanna and Hillcrest that stole the show. Hanna QB Tyler Brennan (pictured) came up with some last second heroics against a more than game Hillcrest team. Week 0 has come and gone and a few games in the Palmetto State got things underway for the new season of high school football. SCPrepNation.com gives you a quick rundown of the major happenings and scores in Week 0.

Hanna 34 Hillcrest 32
Exciting is the word to describe this game. This one turned out to be the most exciting matchup in the state as these two squads battled back and forth all night long. It took last second heroics from Hanna QB Tyler Brennan as he found wide receiver Devon Stowers with 10.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Both teams traded the lead late in the game as both team's rallied from behind and made for the great finish in the closing seconds.

Behind Brennan's passing (248 yards passing) and RB Brandon Williams (106 yards rushing & 49 yards receiving) running the ball the Yellow Jackets were able to escape Hillcrest with the victory. Hillcrest RB Chris Merrill put forth an outstanding effort as well with 25 carries for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Byrnes 55 Hartsville 28
The Rebels capitalized on a number of Red Fox mistakes and showed that their offense is alive and well putting up 50+ points. In fact the Rebels scored on two of their first three plays from scrimmage.

The game was delayed due to severe rain and lightning but once things cleared the Rebels set the tone although the Red Foxes showed the ability to run the ball fairly well on the Rebel defense. Hartsville RB Bennett Saunders had a huge 75 yard run against the Rebels setting up a touchdown score for the Red Foxes.

QB Trent Bailey started for the Rebels and played very well. In fact the Rebels played Bailey, Chas Dodd, and Chris White and the trio passed for a total of 450+ yards on the night and 6 touchdowns. RB Marcus Lattimore shouldered the load on the ground for the Rebels as he scored a touchdown on the night and lead the way with 63 yards. Fellow RB/WR Nick Jones also found paydirt for the Rebels on a short pass.
