The Palmetto State always has its fair share of under the radar players and this year is no different. It's time Hanahan QB John Carnell shed that image and started to get the respect he deserves from college programs across the country. Week 0 saw the talented signal caller throw for a sick 400+ yards. Come inside with SCPrepNation.com for the latest with Carnell.
Hanahan HS quarterback John Carnell
completed 30 out of 45 passes for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Hanahan Hawks to a 35-28 victory over the Ninety-Six Wildcats in their season opener. "It felt great getting back on the field last night," Carnell said. "It seemed like I couldn't get my hands on the ball enough. I just want to be on the field the whole time (laughing). This was probably the best opening game I've ever had."
Clemson commit wide receiver Branden Ford was on the receiving end of all 4 touchdown passes from Carnell. Ford also pulled in 9 receptions for 209 yards. "He's definitely one of the best I've seen, I'll tell you that much," Carnell said of Ford.
Things have been a little quiet on the recruiting front for Carnell. However, with the 2008 season underway, you can expect things to change for the Hanahan High star. "Things have been picking up since we've started things back up," said Carnell. "It's not into full swing, but I am starting to get a little more attention from certain schools."
