Byrnes CB Cartier Rice Update

Byrnes CB Cartier Rice has an impressive list of schools that he's hearing from. With an offer already on the table from a Big Ten program it might not be too long before he receives more good news. Come inside and learn the latest about Cartier Rice's season and recruitment.

Being a cornerback is one of the toughest positions to play as a football player. Simply due to the fact that often more times than not you're out on an island by yourself trying to defend usually the opposing team's best athletes at wide receiver. While some CB's have a rough time dealing with the pressure of being all alone out there, some have exceled at the position to the point that they've established a reputation of being someone teams dare not to challenge.

Byrnes DB Cartier Rice is one of the latter. In two games this season Rice has seen very few passes thrown in his direction as opposing teams realize just how dangerous it is to throw his way. Rice talked about how things have gone so far this season for he and his Byrnes Rebels teammates.

"The game against Hartsville was great. Even though we had the delay due to the bad weather. But other than that, it was great. We were all excited and eager to get back on the field. It was fun! I don't expect too many other teams to throw to my side, but if they do, I'll be ready! So I guess I can expect a little less action but I'll be ready."

The Rebels recently defeated rival Greer 45-7 and the defense is slowly but surely coming together and improving as the season progresses.

The Rebels have a game set to be televised on Fox Sports South against Dr. Phillips (Florida) and all indications point to a great showdown. Rice himself is looking forward to the matchup as he told us, "The Fox game against Dr. Phillips should be fun!"

Cartier already holds a scholarship offer from Michigan State but other schools are still in the hunt for his services. Rice says, "Right now Louisville, Auburn, and N.C. State are recruting the hardest. So far Michigan State is my only offer, but I believe most of the interested schools will offer in the near future (during the season)." As of now Rice says he has no favorites. "No, I don't have a top 5 or 10. So far, I have the same interests in all of the teams recruiting me...I'm open to everybody and anybody."
