SCPrepNation.com Week 3 Roundup

A quick recap of the week's top games and the scores from across the Palmetto State. Berkeley RB Andre Ellington (pictured) lead his squad to a victory in this week's top matchup versus Timberland. Come inside for all the scores.

Dorman 29 Greenwood 26
The premier matchup this week in the upstate took place in Greenwood where the defending AAAA Div. 2 state champion Eagles hosted the Dorman Cavaliers.

The Eagles came on strong in the second half but a determined Dorman offense ran out the clock to hold on for the upset victory. Dorman QB Johnny Foster and Stephen Thomas helped earn some tough yards down the stretch dashing the hopes of the Eagles. The Cavalier defense did a pretty good job of containing Greenwood QB Jay Spearman (South Carolina commit) as he was only able to pass for 100 yards and rush for 41. The win moves Dorman to 3-0 and Greenwood to 2-1 on the season.

Blythewood 27 Richland Northeast 13
Another marquee matchup pitted defending AAA state champions Blythewood versus AAAA RNE. This one had tons of D1 talent on both teams but in the end the Cavaliers had no answer for QB Richard Mounce. Mounce went off completing 20-23 passes for 327 yards against a pretty strong RNE defense. Mounce had 4 of those passes go for touchdowns. WR Perry Wilson was on the receiving end of 9 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. Clemson commit WR Marquan Jones also caught a touchdown and had 3 catches for 32 yards. WR Charles Wright was the money man for Blythewood with his only two catches of the night going for touchdowns totaling 39 yards total.

For the Cavaliers RB Alexander Greene ran for 100 yards and had 41 yards receiving on the night. Blythewood moves to 3-0 on the season while Richland Northeast falls to 2-1.

Berkeley 43 Timberland 28
This one had the biggest billing out of the bunch and the game featured the state's top running backs in the class of 2008 and 2009 in Berkeley's Andre Ellington and Timberland's Rockarius King. This one stayed close for a while as both stars powered their teams in spectacular fashion.

Andre Ellington continues to pile up yardage and Friday night was no different as he had 29 carries for 209 yards and 4 touchdowns. King wasn't to be outshined by his 2008 counterpart though as he had 34 carries for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns.

In the end it was a defensive stand by the Stags that sealed the victory. Bruce Ellington recovered a fumble on a kickoff return by Timberland and they take a commanding 36-22 lead to secure the victory.

The win moves Berkeley's record to 2-1 while Timberland suffered their first loss of the season at 2-1. (Be sure to check out SCPrepNation.com Lowcountry editor Shedrick Moorer's interview with Berkeley's Bruce Ellington which is to be posted within the next 48 hours.)
