With two weeks of high school action in the books, Ellington has already turned in a couple of worthy plays for the 2007 highlight reel. In Berkeley's season opener against First Coast, Bruce showed off his skills by turning a short screen pass into a 42 yard play. "The defender almost stopped me for a short gain, but I broke the tackle and took the ball up field," Ellington said. "I was so close to scoring on that play; they stopped me right at the goal line." The following week against Fort Dorchester, Bruce returned a punt 73 yards to set up a 4 yard TD run by Andre.
Bruce has always been known for having a strong competitive drive. He is always striving to get better at what he does. Ellington discussed with SCPrepNation.com, the areas where he would like to improve. "I really want to continue to get faster and stronger as a player," Ellington said. "I want to continue working hard in the weight room. As far as on the field, I really haven't been "in the zone" yet, but I'm going to work real hard in order to make that happen this year."
