Lattimore Sparks 38-31 OT Victory For Byrnes

A game Centerville Elks (OH) squad gave Byrnes all it wanted on Friday but the young and fiesty Rebels stepped up when it mattered the most. Marcus Lattimore (pictured) sparked the Rebels as they came from behind for a 38-31 win in overtime in Ohio. Come inside for all the latest.

The Byrnes Rebels took another trip to Ohio and once again left with a "W". It wasn't easy by any means but the Rebels showed plenty of heart and made some great adjustments in the second half to pull out a 38-31 victory in overtime against Centerville High School.

Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore enjoyed his best game in his young career as he carried 22 times for 165 yards and a touchdown. Lattimore's hard running kept the Elks defense honest and allowed QB Chase Dodd time to orchestrate the Rebel offense when it mattered most. The Rebels trailed 21-10 at one point and the faithful in attendance were quite concerned. Sophomore sensation RB/WR Nick Jones caught a touchdown pass right before halftime and the Rebels converted a 2-point conversion to make it 21-18 at the half.

There were some questionable calls many felt in the second half but the determined Rebels were not to be denied. After a late flag continued a game tying drive for the Elks which came on a field goal the Rebels marched in for another score when Dodd hit WR Ricco Sanders for a 10 yard touchdown. The Rebel defense went on to secure the victory as the Elks were unable to gain one yard in the overtime.

Dodd threw 2 touchdown passes in the victory. Byrnes will next face undefeated Dorman at home next week. SCPrepNation.com will bring you all the latest so keep it locked right here.
