SC Prep Alumni: Saturday's Heroes

A quick look at some of the former Palmetto prep stars who made headlines on the gridiron for their respective colleges on Saturday. Guys like North Carolina WR Brooks Foster (pictured) formerly of Boiling Springs High School had outstanding performances.

This Week's College Football Standouts From The Palmetto State

  • North Carolina WR Brooks Foster (Boiling Springs HS) had 7 catches for 139 yards in a 22-20 loss to Virginia

  • Duke WR Jomar Wright (Byrnes High) had 7 catches for 63 yards and 1 touchdown as Duke ended a 22 game losing streak with a 20-14 win over Northwestern

  • Kentucky RB Rafael Little (T.L. Hanna High) had 27 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown. Little also caughts 2 passes for 11 yards to help Kentucky upset 9th ranked Louisville 40-34

  • Vanderbilt DB D.J. Moore (Broome High) had an interception in Vanderbilt's 31-17 victory over Mississippi

  • South Carolina State RB Will Ford (Travelers Rest High) had 17 carries for 112 yards and 3 catches for 15 yards in a 38-3 loss versus South Carolina

  • South Carolina State DB's Terrance Allen (Byrnes High), Markee Hamlin (Lamar High), and Phillip Adams (Rock Hill High) each had an interception in the Bulldogs loss to the Gamecocks

  • Appalachian State QB Trey Elder (Byrnes High) went 15-22 for 216 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Elder also rushed 19 times for 82 yards leading the Mountaineers to a 34-21 victory over Northern Arizona.

  • Citadel QB Duran Lawson (Conway High) was 23-35 for 254 yards with 4 touchdowns in a great performance by the Bulldogs as they fell 45-31 to Wisconsin

  • Wofford WR Andy Strickland (Gaffney High) caught 4 passes for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns in the their 38-17 loss to North Carolina State

  • Clemson QB Willy Korn (Byrnes High) threw his first collegiate touchdown pass against Furman with a 42 yard strike to La'Donte Harris

  • Presbyterian WR Justin Durant (South Florence High) caught 6 passes for 51 yards and a touchdown in PC's 34-24 loss to Samford on Thursday night

  • South Carolina WR/S Mark Barnes (Richland Northeast High) caught 2 passes for 12 yards and 1 touchdown
