Former SC Stars Look Good In Preseason

Familiar faces from the Palmetto State now power the Boston Celtics. Inside a look at how a pair of former South Carolina high school ballers will be impacting the Celtics in hopes of a NBA title run this year!

If you would've told me the Boston Celtics would be a favorite to take the Eastern Conference title this year about 6 months ago I would've rolled around on the ground laughing at you. Well after some huge moves by Celtics management (GM Danny Ainge) they are in prime position to be the team to beat coming out of the East. Yes Lebron James took the the Cavaliers to the Finals last year but his supporting crew has nothing on what the Celtics were able to put together.

Last year it was Paul Pierce's team and no disrespect to the former Kansas star but this has become Kevin Garnett's team. Garnett was traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster trade and landed in Boston. The Celtics also landed Ray Allen from the Seattle Supersonics. The two are former South Carolina high school superstars, Garnett at Mauldin High School while Allen played for Hillcrest Dalzell High. So you put forth a nucleus of KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen and surround them with a solid cast of role players and the Celtics have the makings of a possible overnight, well offseason success.

Growing up a Lakers admiring Magic Johnson and their glory days of Showtime as much as I hate to admit it I will find it hard not to pull for the former Palmetto State stars now sporting the green for the Celtics.

We'll keep a close eye on the duo as they try to invigorate the proud tradition of Boston Celtics basketball.

Note: Ray Allen went out and dropped 28 points and Garnett had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks in their preseason victory over Garnett's former team in a 92-81 preseason victory.
