A top flight prospect is what T.L. Hanna WR Quintin Payton is. Blessed with tremendous athletic ability to go with his 6'4 190 pound frame Payton has emerged as one of the most coveted prospects in the southeast for the class of 2009. With RB Brian Maddox now at South Carolina the Yellow Jackets have shifted a good part of their offensive load to their talented junior prospect at wideout. They also have him playing some outside linebacker as well due to his playmaking abilities.

Last year Quintin made some noise as a sophomore to the tune of 21 catches for 411 yards and 2 touchdowns. To this point in his junior season he's already eclipsed those marks by a great deal with 37 catches for 592 yards and 8 touchdowns. Payton says his game against defending AAAA-Division 2 state champions Greenwood. "My best game this year has to be the game against Greenwood, it is so memorable because I had 6 catches for 120 yards and 2 TD and we only lost by 3 points."

Prominent football programs from the ACC and SEC conferences have been ringing Payton on the regular to recruit him to their respective programs. "I'm hearing from Clemson, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, Duke, and Alabama currently."

One school has already tendered the 2009 prospect a scholarship offer. "Yes I have an offer from North Carolina State." Out of the aforementioned schools Quintin says a few have been more aggressive than others in their recruitment for his commitment. "I'd have to say Vanderbilt, Clemson, South Carolina, and NC State have been recruiting me the hardest."

With Payton's name becoming so hot amongst the 2009 class he says there are a few schools that he hasn't heard from yet that he'd like to be recruited by. "I'd like to hear from LSU, Ohio State, California, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia."

Still early in the process Payton says he's got an early top 5 list. "Right now for me it's South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, NC State, and Vanderbilt."

There are a few factors that will play a prominent role in Payton's decision making process and he shared them with us. "Location, the style of play, and the coaching staff will play a big role for me in making my decision." He is unsure of when he might make a decision at the moment as well.
