Basketball season is upon us and we have an intriguing prospect to highlight in our "UP NEXT" series. 2008 Dreher SF Kenneth Joyner is a versatile player with tremendous upside. The Dreher star recently sat down with SCPrepNation.com for an interview as he and his teammates prepare for the upcoming season.

At 6'6 195 pounds Joyner has good size at the small forward position. Last year he filled the stat sheets averaging 16 ppg, 9 rpg, 5 apg, and 2 spg. With his senior season ahead of him Joyner is looking to crank it up another level or two and help his squad improve on a strong 18-6 record from a year ago. At the same time Joyner will be trying to get some potential scholarship offers locked up.

Early suitors recruiting Joyner include a big portion of the schools comprising the Southern Conference. Joyner says, "Elon, Furman, SC State, Western Carolina, The Citadel, and VMI are the schools I'm currently hearing from." From that list he says that Elon, Citadel, and VMI are coming after him the hardest.

There a few schools out that there Joyner would like to hear more from in the near future. "I am most interested in hearing from Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and SC State right now."

Last year Joyner says he enjoyed his best game of his career against Lake Marion. "Yeah the Lake Marion game was my best so far. I had 25 points and 12 rebounds in that one."

Joyner's skills are evident through his versatile statistics but he says there are areas where he knows he's already strong at and areas where he'd like to improve as well. "I think my rebounding, scoring ability, and perimeter play are my strengths right now. I would like to improve my midrange game and dribbling though."

His talents don't stop just on the hardwood either as Joyner excels in the classroom as well. "I have a 3.0 GPA and I scored a 1140 on the SAT." College programs will definitely take note as his skill set continues to get better. Joyner's goals for his senior season are team oriented. "I want to do whatever it takes to help my team win a state championship and hold on to our ranking."

Joyner already has an idea as to what criteria he'll be looking at when selecting a college destination. "The most imporatnt things for me will be a strong education, a good law program, team's record, and location."

Joyner currently doesn't have any visits lined up but that could change in the near future. He also says that he plans to make a decision after the season is over with.

SCPrepNation.com will continue to bring you the very latest regarding Kenneth Joyner's season and recruitment so keep it locked right as we're the #1 source for South Carolina high school basketball and football recruiting.
