SCPrepNation.com brings you another under the radar player who finally received some kudos being named to the SCADA North-South Game recently in Gaffney S Johnny Woods. Woods talks about his season, the playoffs, and his recruitment inside.

The Gaffney Indians continue to produce talent at a high rate in Cherokee County. The Indians are once again making a run in the AAAA Division 1 playoffs as they are the two time defending state champions. A big part of their success is due to their outstanding defensive unit which is spearheaded by standout LB J.B. Shippy and S Johnny Woods. Woods has flown under the radar for far too long and SCPrepNation.com sat down with the recent North-South selection to talk about his season and recruitment.

The early list of schools recruiting Woods reads like this he says, "I'm hearing from South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Tusculum, SC State, and Clemson. I have an offer from Tusculum so far."

For Woods though he is really feeling the Gamecocks of South Carolina. He says his top 5 schools are South Carolina, Tusculum, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Vanderbilt.

With it being his senior season Woods has relished each and every game and played his heart out for the Indians. "My goals are plain and simple. I want to win all our games during the playoffs, take a state championship trophy to the house once again, and then get ready to play in the North-South game."

Asked about his selection to the North squad Woods replied, "It feels great. I didn't even know I was going to make it but man it feels great to be selected." With so many colleges there evaluating the talent Woods realizes it affords him a great opportunity to make a late run at more scholarship offers. "I'm going to try and make a big impression on all the schools there watching especially South Carolina."

Woods says he feels like he excels helping out in run support and and would like to continue his progress in coverage. To this point in the season Woods has been a force from his safety position. "These stats aren't current but the last time I checked I had 66 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions."

For Woods he says it's been a great experience playing for the Gaffney Indians given their rich history of dominance in football. As he continues to help the Indians towards another trip to Williams-Brice Stadium he says a few factors have moved to the forefront when it comes to making a decision for college. "Basically how good a school is and how strong their academic program is."

Woods says he is currently working on getting his senior highlight tape together in order to send it out to prospective schools so they can take a look at his abilities on the field.
