State Championship Awards

The Weekend of Champions is over but there's still unsettled business for Who were the MVPs, what players' stock went way up, who went from sleeper to stud prospect, and more inside? It's time to hand out the awards for the weekend of champions...and the winners are...

Most Outstanding Players

  • Cheraw WR/S Jaron Brown put on a sick performance Saturday afternoon. The stat line for Brown you ask? 3 rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown. 2 catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. 1 interception return for a 48 yard touchdown. Add to that some vicious tackles among his 6 tackles from his safety position and the 2008 prospect came up huge in leading Cheraw to back to back AA state titles.
  • Cheraw RB Travis Small also put in some serious work carrying the rock 11 times for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. The 2009 prospect stamped himself as one of the very best in the Palmetto State for next season.
  • Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore was the topic of discussion amongst the members in attendance. Lattimore ran 25 times for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also caught 7 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. He's already our pick for the state's top 2010 prospect but now we're trying to get a sense of where he'll land in the national rankings. Early speculation from (Top 15 overall in the nation with plenty of room to move up even higher should his speed improve even more).
