Darryl Jones: Has An Offer, Another Coming?

Goose Creek High School defensive lineman, Darryl Jones, just recently picked up his first scholarship offer from an in-state program. However, 6-4, 240 pound athlete has been drawing interest from another in-state school as of late. Find out inside which school has already offered, and which program may not be too far behind on the recruiting trail.

Goose Creek DL Darryl Jones recently informed SCPrepNation.com that he picked up a scholarship offer from Newberry College. However, Jones could actually be on the verge of picking up another. "My dad just recently spoke with my coach (Coach Reedy)," Jones said. "Coach Reedy told him that Coastal Carolina was probably going to offer me, I'm not sure when though."

After receiving an offer from Newberry, Jones wasted very little time in seeing what the Indians had to offer. With that being said, Jones felt the need to take a trip to Newberry, SC to check things out up close and personal. "I had a lot of fun," Jones said in regards to his visit. "I like all of the coaches there. I like the campus a lot too. Once I take my official visit, I'll know a little more about them."

With Newberry being his only offer so far, it appears that they are in the forefront for his services. However, Jones did admit that an offer from Coastal Carolina could shake things up within his recruitment.

Jones closed out his prep career with a trip to Conway, SC to participate in the 60th Annual North-South All-Star Game. "I really had a lot of fun up there," Jones said of his experience at North-South. "There was so much competition up there. I wasn't the star like I usually am (laughing)."

Darryl Jones finished the season with 70+ tackles and 9 sacks for the Goose Creek Gators.
