T'Ara Berry: Woodmont PG Looking For Offers

The Woodmont Wildcats girls basketball team relies heavily on senior PG T'Ara Berry. The 2008 standout is hearing from numerous programs and SCPrepNation.com caught up with Berry for an update. Come inside and learn more about a leader amongst the girls basketball ranks.

Basketball season is in full swing and the girls play just as hard as the guys do on the court. 2008 PG T'Ara Berry of Woodmont High School has risen as one of the best in the Upstate during her career. So far a number of in-state programs have shown early interest and we caught up with Berry for an update on her senior season and recruitment.

Leading up to this year Berry has constantly improved her game on the court each year. This past offseason though she worked her very hardest she says. "I have worked on completing my all around game, my defense, and developing a 10-15 foot jumpshot." Throughout her career Berry has put up solid numbers and things are no different this year in her final go around as she's averaging 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. The strength of her game that we've seen thus far is her ability to put the ball on the floor and get into the paint for easy buckets or getting fouled and getting to the charity stripe.

Being a leader is nothing new to Berry either as her younger teammates often look to her for advice and guidance on the court. "I just tell them to play hard, and give it your all, because you don't want to look back on the game and say I wish I would have did this or I wish I had did that. I basically tell them lets not have any regrets and lets go out and play and have fun."

One of her finest moments came last season during a Christmas tournament at Landrum High. "My best game ever have to be at the Christmas tournament last year at Landrum High. When we played against them for 3rd place, I had 22pts, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 turnovers. The reason why that game was so memorable for me is for the past 20 plus years Woodmont girls basketball team never won anything, I hit the game winning shot in front of a huge Landrum crowd and it was like finally something our team can build on."

Berry has been hearing from a number of schools so far in regards to her recruitment. Western Carolina, Charleston Southern, North Greenville, and Southern Wesleyan are showering her with the most attention so far. At this point Berry says she's probably most interested in Southern Wesleyan. She has taken visits already to Charleston Southern and North Greenville.

"I'm looking for an excellent academic program, also to be able to bond with the team and coaching staff so I can feel comfortable and have that home away from home atmosphere."

Berry's drive to succeed should afford her the opportunity to continue her successful career on the next level. She plans on making a decision this month hopefully and SCPrepNation.com will keep you updated with the very latest regarding her recruitment.
