"Branden and I went at it everyday, on every drill," Nick said. "It really motivated the both of us. I was the only one on the team that could jump with him. I was jamming him at the line to make him better, and he was doing things to make me a better player. He didn't catch every pass that was thrown in the air. I was right there with him knocking down passes; I even intercepted a few (laughing)."
Due to the significant amount of reps against Branden, Nick was more than prepared for the opposing team whenever he took the field. Last year the talented DB picked off 10 passes and recorded 67 tackles for the Hawk's defense. Three of his picks came against Dillon HS in the playoffs. Nick also made an occasional appearance at wide receiver, where he caught 7 passes for 123 yards and 1 touchdown.
Things have been a little quiet on the recruiting front for Carson. "No one has really been coming after me yet," Nick said. "It's still kind of early though. But, I would really like to hear from schools like Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, and Clemson."
Nick is currently putting together a highlight film in an effort to catch the eyes of the programs previously mentioned, and many more. Things should certainly pick up once more coaches begin to learn of him.
Stay tuned with SCPrepNation.com as we continue to keep track of this young rising star from Hanahan High School.
Note: Nick won the state championship in the high jump last year as a sophomore in Track and Field.
