Northwestern RB Jarrett Neely has become a player to keep a close eye on after putting up some mind boggling numbers last season. Northwestern put up some staggering offensive numbers last year and Neely played a big role in their success. The Gamecocks invited him down to show their interest and let him become acclimated with their facilities and staff. Other SEC and ACC programs have also shown tremendous early interest in the 2009 standout as well.
"I think the visit to USC was very cool. We had a chance to meet all of the coaches on the staff and they were cool." Asked if he had a chance to learn a lot more about the Gamecocks and their program while there he replied, "No sir, I honestly knew just about everything about the Gamecocks already."
Neely made the trip down I-26 to Columbia with teammate LB Jerel Miller. Miller is also looking very hard at USC as well. While he met all of the Gamecock staff and toured the facilities one thing really took Neely's breath away. "I think the best part is when we went onto the field at Williams-Brice Stadium."
For now though Neely continues to work hard in the weight room to improve his strength and speed. He says he will be sending his Gamecock recruiters his highlight tape from last season so that they can evaluate it. "On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give the visit an 8." In addition to the Gamecocks Neely says he hears an awful lot from Tennessee, LSU, NC State, and Coastal Carolina.
