SCPrepNation.com caught up with Columbia High ATH, Chris Payne, to see how things have been shaping up on the recruiting front…"Things have been going pretty good," Chris said in regards to his early recruitment. "A good bit of schools have been showing interest in me. I've been getting stuff from Alabama, South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Auburn, and a few other small schools."

On the field last fall, Payne tallied up 120 tackles, 9 sacks, and 2 interceptions. He was also accountable for 800 yards on the ground and 9 rushing touchdowns. However, the numbers previously stated weren't the only impressive numbers for the Columbia High star. Payne informed SCPrepNation.com that he's been clocked at a 4.47 in the forty-yard dash. He also reported a 500-pound squat, a 320-pound bench press, and a 32 inch vertical.

Chris was yet to receive his first scholarship offer but that all changed this past weekend after a trip to North Carolina for their junior day activities. In an effort to raise his stock to an even higher level, the Columbia High star will be taking his show on the road to the '08 camp circuit this summer. As of date, the two-way star plans to camp with USC, Virginia Tech, and Clemson. He will also be attending various combines along the southeast this spring.
