Q&A With RNE's 2010 Malcolm Rhett

Richland Northeast 2010 PF Malcolm Rhett caught the attention of Scout.com early on in the season at the Chick-Fil-A tournament. Rhett despite his youth has developed rather quickly and shows a lot of potential. Still early in the process he has an early favorite. SCPrepNation.com caught up with Rhett for the latest so come inside and get the inside scoop in this exclusive Q&A.

KF: You played really well at the Chick-Fil-A Classic and caught the eye of our national analyst Dave Telep, how do you think you played during the tourney?
MR: I think I played a solid game but I need to become more consistent.

KF: What do you feel are the strengths of your game at this point in your career?
MR: My 15-18 foot jumper, I'm an okay 3 point shooter, driving to the lane, and rebounding.

KF: What areas do you want to try and improve on the most this offseason?
MR: I want to improve on my ballhandling, shooting, and finishing around the basket.

KF: Will you be playing AAU ball over the spring/summer? If so, with who?
MR: Yes. I will play with the SC Ravens 16-under.

KF: Talk about your best game so far in your varsity career. Who was it against, what kind of numbers did you put up, and why was it so memorable for you?
MR: It was against Blythewood earlier in the year. I had a career high 25 points and 9 rebounds. I also had my first dunk in a varsity game and that made this game very memorable for me.

KF: Who are the toughest players you've had to face so far?
MR: Milton Jennings from Pinewood Prep and Murphy Holloway from Dutch Fork.

KF: What team is the toughest you've faced?
MR: Pinewood Prep and Lower Richland.

KF: What game is the biggest to you in terms of a rivalry and why?
MR: RNE vs Spring Valley because it is a great atmosphere with high intensity and good competition.

KF: What are your averages per game so far this year?
MR: 10 points and 6 rebounds per game.

KF: Are you hearing from any colleges at this point?
MR: Yes. South Carolina and Charleston Southern.

KF: Do you have a list of schools you'd like to hear from?
MR: South Carolina, North Carolina, Southern California, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Duke, Arizona, Clemson, Florida, and Tennessee.

KF: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise a lot of people?
MR: That my doctor says my average growth rate is 2.5 inches per year.
