Taylor started making some noise two years ago as a sophomore. It was then that he says he had the best game of his career. "My best game was probably against Greenville during my sophomore year. I had 10 tackles and 2 sacks. It was my first year playing."
Last season as a junior Taylor continued his ascent finishing with 65 tackles and 12 sacks. Taylor continues to work feverishly now in the offseason in hopes of improving those statistics. "I want to have 20+ sacks next year from a personal standpoint." In order to do that Taylor says he wants to improve his bull rushing and technique.
For now he shows good ability as a pass rusher and has a natural nose for the ball. One thing that we noticed early on about Chris was his frame and phsyique. A well sculpted defensive end Taylor puts in a tremendous amount of time in the weightroom. He has hopes of improving all of his personal bests in that area as well this offseason.
Some ACC programs have caught wind of Taylor early on and are showing interest in the 2009 prospect. "I'm hearing from Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina State." Out of those schools Taylor says he's most interested in Virginia and Maryland the most at this stage in his recruitment and is open to anyone who shows interest.
Taylor will make visits to his two early favorites and an SEC program as well. "I'm visiting Maryland and Virginia this summer. I'm also visiting Tennessee as well so hopefully they'll do well and I'll have a good visit with each."
The 2009 prospect also shared with us some of his toughest opponents as well. "I'd have to say Clinton because they play and come off the ball low." He also says that he looks up to one particular player that he tries to pattern his game after. "I like Dwight Freeney of the Indianapolis Colts."
