While checking out J.L. Mann's superb 2008 CB J.T. Floyd (Michigan commit) a couple of times this past season we saw a few other players who made quite a few plays. We've already featured 2009 CB Quentin McClinton but 2009 DE Chris Taylor continued to stick in my mind even afterwards. Finally I caught up with Taylor to bring you the very latest as he's starting to warm up on the recruiting front with college staffs.

Taylor started making some noise two years ago as a sophomore. It was then that he says he had the best game of his career. "My best game was probably against Greenville during my sophomore year. I had 10 tackles and 2 sacks. It was my first year playing."

Last season as a junior Taylor continued his ascent finishing with 65 tackles and 12 sacks. Taylor continues to work feverishly now in the offseason in hopes of improving those statistics. "I want to have 20+ sacks next year from a personal standpoint." In order to do that Taylor says he wants to improve his bull rushing and technique.

For now he shows good ability as a pass rusher and has a natural nose for the ball. One thing that we noticed early on about Chris was his frame and phsyique. A well sculpted defensive end Taylor puts in a tremendous amount of time in the weightroom. He has hopes of improving all of his personal bests in that area as well this offseason.

Some ACC programs have caught wind of Taylor early on and are showing interest in the 2009 prospect. "I'm hearing from Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina State." Out of those schools Taylor says he's most interested in Virginia and Maryland the most at this stage in his recruitment and is open to anyone who shows interest.

Taylor will make visits to his two early favorites and an SEC program as well. "I'm visiting Maryland and Virginia this summer. I'm also visiting Tennessee as well so hopefully they'll do well and I'll have a good visit with each."

The 2009 prospect also shared with us some of his toughest opponents as well. "I'd have to say Clinton because they play and come off the ball low." He also says that he looks up to one particular player that he tries to pattern his game after. "I like Dwight Freeney of the Indianapolis Colts." will keep you up to date with the very latest regarding Chris Taylor's recruitment so keep it locked right here with the #1 source for South Carolina high school football recruiting!
