2009 TE/DE prospect Justice Cunningham has one of the best names in the Palmetto State. As of late Cunningham has been getting his just due in the recruiting world. At 6'3 232 pounds the Central High School standout has good size and schools throughout the southeast region are taking notice rather quickly. Cunningham currently holds an offer from the South Carolina Gamecocks already. Asked what schools he hears the most from as of late he replied, "South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina State, Maryland, and Tennessee." Those schools also make up Cunningham's early top 5 list.
Given his rise in the recruiting ranks Cunningham says he feels a couple of those programs may be close to offering along with the Gamecocks. "Clemson and North Carolina State may be close."
Next season is still months away but Cunningham talked about his early goals for next year. "I would like to help my team win the region and state championships. I also want to beat Cheraw and Chesterfield." On a personal level Cunningham said, "I'd like to score at least 10 touchdowns and have a lot of tackles and sacks on the defensive side." Along with Cheraw and Chesterfield there is another team that the standout looks forward to taking on next year. "Columbia High because they are one of the best teams in our region and have some of the best athletes."
Cunningham is close friends with Greenwood High star DE Sam Montgomery and the two have discussed the possibility of attending the same college. Asked about his thoughts of what the duo could bring to a college program together he said, "I think Sam and I could help out any team a lot. He brings the speed while I bring the power. Plus we'll push each other to get better at practice and in the weight room."
Justice works over opponents on the field but also gets the job done and then some in the classroom as well. Sporting a 4.1 GPA Cunningham is one of the state's top student-athletes. The Central star's talents don't end there. He also excels on the hardwood as a standout basketball player too. "I averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, 4 assists, and 1 blocked shot per game." Cunningham stays busy year round as he'll play for two AAU basketball teams this offseason. "I will play with Carolina Heat and South Carolina Future. I am hearing from Morehead State, Harvard, and Richmond for basketball."
Juggling so many sports and maintaining such a high GPA at the same time would be tough for most. Justice says, "It is pretty tough. You just gotta know how to keep your priorities straight."
