North Carolina and Maryland have both contacted Johnson's head coach Dan Pippin about the junior standout. In fact, Johnson was invited to Chapel Hill for their Spring Game this coming weekend and he intends on making the ride up to check out the Tar Heels. Their interest is uncertain at this juncture but one look at Johnson's highlight tapes and transcripts could make him a highly sought after target. The Terps also want Johnson visit their campus but as of now nothing has been scheduled.
Johnson has also been hearing frequently from Purdue since our last interview as well. Air Force has also made contact with Johnson and expressed their sincere interest in him as well. Another school interested in having him make a visit is Liberty.
An SEC program got an early start on Johnson. Vanderbilt visited North Augusta last month to meet with his coach and several of his teachers. Johnson is very interested in the Commodores and it would appear the feeling is mutual.
A superb student in the classroom Johnson's recruitment should continue to take flight when you consider he's 6'2 206 pounds and runs a 4.52 in the 40. His talents don't stop there either.
As we mentioned before he is also a standout basketball player as well. Charleston Southern, Wofford, and Yale are all showing interest in his abilities on the hardwood.
SCPrepNation.com will have more on Brett Johnson as his stock continues to rise on the recruiting front. We will talk with the North Augusta standout once he returns from his visit to Chapel Hill to see how the trip went.
