Gators Interested In Another SC Prospect

The Florida Gators have offered a couple of SC prospects in the 2009 class already. It appears that they are looking at another one rather closely. After seeing his film the SEC power is loving what they've seen so far. Come inside and see what player the Gators are hoping to get a visit from soon.

The state of Florida is a hotbed for high school football talent. Well it appears that the Florida Gators are making the Palmetto State a state that they will continue to target with frequency when looking outside of the Sunshine State. The Gators have 4 Palmetto State prospects in the 2009 class holding scholarship offers. Urban Meyer and company spoke with another outstanding SC prospect and proclaimed their high interest in the 2009 standout.

We were the first to tell you about Greer High WR Desmond Parks and in no time he's become a hot prospect on a high level. "I heard from Florida the other day. I got a note to call them. So I called them and talked with coach Hevesy first (UF tight ends coach). Then I spoke with Urban Meyer. I had sent my highlight film down to them and they were really impressed with my natural ability. They liked my size and wanted me to come down there. They were very interested and there's a good chance that I might get an offer from them. So they are looking at me as a tight end/wide receiver."

Asked if he has a preference if a school wants to convert him to a tight end Parks said, "Most coaches are talking about with my size and speed possibly as a dual position player. Depends on where I'm at with my speed."

The Gators aren't the only school stepping up their recruitment of Parks though. "Along with Florida I'm hearing a lot from Georgia Tech, Duke, and Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt is starting to look at me really strong at TE because they like the way I can get down and hold my stance. I am also hearing from the service academies too, Navy and Army."

Last week the 6'6 wideout was on Spring Break but he didn't head to the beach like a lot of high school student often do. "I took a trip to Georgia Tech during my break. They liked me a lot. I spent time with the players and took a tour of the school. Some of them were skeptical because sometimes film makes players look bigger but they loved that I'm a legit 6'6 when they saw my size in person. They liked what they saw. They were talking about offering possibly. Most of the schools I'm hearing from are saying that they want to see how I do on my ACT on April 12th before offering me while some may wait until the spring to watch me at spring practice."

Parks will be attending the Under Armour/Scout.com combine in Charlotte on May 10th. SCPrepNation.com will keep you updated with the very latest regarding Desmond Parks as his stock continues to soar so keep it locked right here!
