Jacob McQueen stands 6'5 and weighs in at 240 pounds. McQueen told us about his experience from this past season. "I started every JV game last year as a sophomore and I dressed out for every varsity game. I didn't get much playing time with the varsity because of the talented line that we had. All of those guys are graduating so I will be stepping in as a starter this year." Coach Carroll and staff obviously have big expectations for McQueen as he'll be one of the big anchors for the Stallions new o-line.
McQueen's JV team went 8-4 while the varsity South Pointe squad went 9-4. The 2010 prospect says one game really stood out for him last year. "I would have to say it was against Nations Ford. I pretty much blocked the entire right side of their defensive line the whole game. We won big with several scoring plays coming through my holes."
When we asked McQueen what team was the toughest in his opinion that the Stallions faced last year he replied, "Dorman. They are very talented and disciplined. They are a very well coached team."
Moving up as a starter on the varsity Jacob says he's been working hard to shore up all aspects of his game and ability. "I have been working hard to get bigger, faster, and stronger. I want to do everything I can to get us to the state championship!"
As we stated before McQueen isn't a known commodity to most but that should change next season. In fact McQueen talked about his aspirations for the Stallions as a whole next season. "I think with our talent that we should be a top pick to win the state championship. I am looking forward to the excitement and honor of blocking for one of the country's best athletes, Stephon Gilmore. Also, having Devin Wherry in the same backfield will be fun too!"
A few of the local schools have already made it a point to let the 2010 prospect know that he's on their early radar. "I hear from Newberry, Gardner, Webb, and Western Carolina. I've already visited Newberry and Clemson before too. I like both schools a lot."
Given the fact that he already has a solid frame and can easily add more weight McQueen will be a prospect that we will keep a close eye on. SCPrepNation.com will be here to bring you all the very latest regarding Jacob McQueen and the rest of the top prospects in the Palmetto State so stay tuned.
