John Brown Profile

The recruiting process has started to pick up steam for 2009 DT John Brown. At 6'1 260 pounds Brown has a nice frame and put together a nice showing this past season on the gridiron. Colleges have been calling with more frequency for the 09' prospect in fact. "I talk with coach Willis from North Carolina State a lot. We talked just the other day. He says he wants to get some film on me and that he wants to see me in person. We talk a lot about defensive line play. He wants to see me this summer during some workouts. He'll go from there about the scholarship process if he sees what he likes."

NC State isn't the only ACC program who is actively recruiting Brown though. In-state Clemson also has been keeping close tabs on Brown. "I talked with coach Ron West from Clemson yesterday. He talked about the recruiting process, how the school is, their academics, and their program. He said he's really looking forward to seeing me at camp. He also said they are looking for a good nose guard and defensive tackle."

Brown says a number of schools shower him with the most attention whether it be via mail or phone calls. "I hear the most from NC State, Stanford, South Carolina, Virginia, and Duke. I do have a top five list also. My top five would be NC State, South Carolina, Stanford, Duke, and LSU."

The 2009 prospect continues to work hard in the weight room. Since our last update a month ago Brown has added 10 pounds to his bench press max bringing it now to 345 pounds. "I've been lifting hard and working on my agility. I've also been watching a lot of film from last year to see what areas I can improve on my technique and positioning." A hamstring injury has limited his work on the squat and ability to run some 40 yard dash sprints. That won't be a factor hopefully for Brown as he is set to atttend the Under Armour/ combine in Charlotte next month. Brown is interested to see how he'll fare against some of the top prospects from the Carolinas, VA, TN, and GA. will continue to bring you the very latest regarding John Brown's recruitment along with the rest of the top prospects in the Palmetto State.
