QB Bo Whitney Talks About Move To Laurens

Laurens High QB Bo Whitney recently moved from Union County High. Inside the 2009 signal caller talks about his transition from UCHS to Laurens, the adjustments he's had to make, and updates his recruitment. Come inside and learn the latest about the 6'4 215 pound quarterback prospect from Laurens High School.

Moving is never fun. We as adults know it is an arduous task and something most never look forward to. Often times for our children changing schools is a really tough adjustment. 2009 QB Bo Whitney has had to go through that adjustment phase after moving from Union County High to Laurens High. For Whitney things haven't been so difficult thus far. "I love everything about the move. I mean the atmosphere is great, the players are dedicated, and the facilities are awesome!"

Still change is change and we asked Whitney if changing schools and football teams was a hard adjustment for him. He quickly responded, "The offense is already like second nature because coach Lawson was at Union when they won the state championship. So a lot of his same terminology is still in place to this day. So picking it up was a breeze for me."

Asked what differences he's noticed between his former school and current one he said, "Oh no there's not a lot of difference. With the playbook it's almost identical except that Union really didn't use a lot of the passing side of the playbook."

The Laurens QB will be making some camp visits this offseason and talked extensively about those trips. "I am going to the Elite 11 competition at Penn State in May, and although some would rest there-I want to be chosen for the ACTUAL Elite 11 that go to California." His goals are set high and he talked about what he hopes to accomplish next season with his new teammates. "I'm setting my goals very high. I would like to sign with a major division-1 college on a personal level. As far as team goals we obviously want to win the region and a state championship (above ALL else), and have an undefeated record."

Schools continue to pursue the prototype quarterback prospect. Whitney is hearing from the following major schools. Alabama, Tennessee, NC State, Rutgers, Notre Dame, and Kansas State. He is also being recruited by a number of smaller schools as well. He hasn't taken any visits lately but has previously visited Clemson and Alabama.

Whitney also updated us with his marks in the weight room as well. "I bench 290 pounds, squat 405 pounds, power clean 250 pounds, run a 4.7 40 yard dash, and run a 4.3 second shuttle."

We will have more updates with Bo Whitney as he works hard to try and earn his first scholarship offer. We will talk with Whitney once he returns from Penn State to compete in the Elite 11 camp along with fellow Palmetto State QB Matthew Roberts of Greenville High.
