It's always been an uphill battle for 2009 Byrnes CB Riyahd Richardson. Not the biggest player in the world he's had to work extra hard to prove he was one of the best regardless of size. Not long ago he conquered a goal many said would never happen...his first scholarship offer. SCPrepNation.com was the first to break the news of Richardson's offer from Texas A&M and we'll be the first to tell you just how the standout cornerback liked his trip to College Station.

"Man my trip was great! The head coach and the entire staff showed me a lot of love!" Richardson exclaimed. The 2009 Byrnes standout made the journey over the weekend to visit the Aggies of Texas A&M and took in a great deal of the campus along with their spring game as well.

Asked if he enjoyed watching the Aggies' Spring Game he quickly replied, "Of course, I love the school. I got to see the campus most of all, the academic facilities, the locker room, weight room, meeting rooms, the indoor practice facility, and the lovely field!"

The A&M coaches also relayed a clear message that Richardson could possibly see some early playing time should he choose to play for the Aggies. They also made certain that he's on track with his academic requirements as well.

Riyahd says a couple of things really stood out for him about his visit to Texas A&M. "One of the best parts is when I got to sit in on the whole defensive meeting, it was fun. They are some clowns and have a lot of fun together which I really enjoyed. Then I went in the cornerbacks meetings and coach McMillan was asking me questions about film as if I was already there as an Aggie player! Another big thing for me was their facilities. To be honest I think they have some of the best facilities I have seen so far."

We then put Richardson on the hot seat and asked him to rate his visit on a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest. "Well the whole time I was down there I couldn't do anything but smile. I know that no school is perfect, but I'd give them a ten all the way!" Richardson also informed us that he pondered giving the Aggies a commitment while in College Station. He decided against it for the time being but says he has been thinking about it since he came home.

Asked where the Aggies stand on his list of schools currently he quickly said, "To be real with you, I don't have a list...it's Texas A&M!"

Should Riyahd decide on giving a verbal commit to the Texas A&M Aggies rest assured we'll be the first to bring you the news first along with any other new happenings concerning his recruitment. Other interested parties obviously will have to make up some ground so we'll be sure to keep you informed with the very latest here at SCPrepNation.com.

Richardson did a lot of smiling while in College Station just as he did right after helping Byrnes win the AAAA Division 1 state championship in an undefeated season.
