When we last spoke to LaQuan Gilliard, the talented wideout filled us in on his trip to Columbia, SC, to get an early look at the 2008 Gamecocks in their Annual Garnet and Black Spring Game. He also made mention to us that a member from the USC Coaching Staff was going to be paying him a visit in return. Did they stick to their word?
"Yes sir," Gilliard replied. "South Carolina came by school to see me the other day. They said that they like how I can go across the middle and get the ball, and take a hit. They said that I would look good at South Carolina. They would really like for me to come up to their camp this summer, and workout for them."
According to Gilliard, the Gamecocks aren't the only SEC program that has been hot on his heels. "The coach from Auburn wrote me a letter," Gilliard said. "He said that they had a chance to view my film, and that they like me a lot. They said that an offer from them is very possible. They want me to come up for an official visit with my parents so we can talk about it more."
Gilliard informed us of two other programs that have been showing him love on a constant basis. "Duke sends me letters like everyday," Gilliard said. "Kentucky has been sending me a lot of stuff also. I was invited out to both of their spring games, but I couldn't make them."
With the Evaluation Period into full swing, we are certain that more coaches will continue flocking to Summerville, SC to check on the LowCountry standout. Should any stirring news occur, we will certainly let you know…
