For a time there last year we were a little concerned as to why schools weren't beating down Khris Middleton's door. All those fears have been put to rest as he is absolutely on fire as of late. Just recently Middleton made a few trips and we caught up with some of his coaches and his father for the latest.
Just last week Middleton made the trip up I-26 to Columbia to visit with coach Darrin Horn of South Carolina. While there he came away impressed with the Gamecocks and they extended him a scholarship offer. He also made a trip out to College Station, Texas to check out the Texas A&M Aggies. The trip was a good one but he left without an offer.
That all changed last night as Aggie head coach Mark Turgeon received some additional highlight film from Porter-Gaud head coach John Pearson. Turgeon was in Big 12 meetings last week but after viewing the film Turgeon realized that Middleton is more than just a shooter. "He had no idea that Khris could handle the ball like that at his size and make plays off the dribble. He was also impressed with his young age and ability to perform on the aau circuit as he does with guys who are older and more physically mature." James Middleton told us.
This past weekend Middleton and his Carolina Celtics teammates played in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in North Carolina. There they went 2-1 before losing to D-One Sports which is lead by the nation's #1 point guard in John Wall. "At TOC on Friday he had 26 points and left the game with six minutes left. On Saturday they were down 20 in the second half against the North Carolina Fire, he scored 21 in the second half and they won by 3. Sunday was his roughest outing as he was held to only 8 points in loss to D-One and John Wall."
