The wait is over for Timberland High School DE/TE Aldrick Fordham. The 6-3, 220 pound two-way star just recently picked up his first major scholarship offer from Coach Phillip Fulmer and the Tennessee Volunteers. "Coach Craig came to me on last week Thursday and told me that they had offered me," Fordham said with the sound of excitement in his voice. "The coach from Tennessee called me and told me about it too. "I also got a written offer from them on last week; Coach Craig gave it to me on last Friday."
It certainly didn't take long for the word to get out regarding Fordham's offer from the Volunteers. In fact, right before our interview with the '09 prospect, he had just finished up a telephone conversation with an assistant coach from another SEC program… "I just got off the phone with Coach Steve Spurrier Jr. a few minutes ago," Fordham said. "He wants me to come up there to visit the school and to meet their coaches, so they can offer me a scholarship. I'll be going up to South Carolina on the 9th of June.
Before Tennessee had entered the picture, there was one particular ACC program that appeared to be in hot pursuit of Fordham; Wake Forest University. Although Tennessee was the first to extend an invitation to the LowCountry star, he informed us that Wake Forest is still very much in the picture… "Coach Henry from Wake Forest came down one day last week to check on me," Fordham said. "They are still very interested in me. They are still waiting on my test scores before they offer me."
Apparently Wake Forest isn't the only ACC program that has been keeping tabs on the rising senior from Timberland High. According to Fordham, Bowden's Tigers have also joined the recruiting race for his services…"Clemson has also been in contact with me a good bit," Fordham told SCPrepNation.com. "I'm supposed to be going up there on the 12th of next month. So, we'll see what happens."
We will have more on Aldrick Fordham as things continue to heat up on the recruiting front for the 2009 standout…
