Taylor Hudson is the next player to be featured in SCPrepNation.com's "UP NEXT" series and the 2010 Mauldin High standout has a bright future ahead of him. Just a few weekends ago Hudson took home a prestigious honor and he sat down with us to discuss the early portion of his recruitment and thoughts on his career to this point.
A few weeks ago some of the top underclassmen from all over the state went to compete in the Schuman National Underclassmen Combine. Hudson was one of many prospects in attendance. You could say Hudson had a big showing and we're not talking just about his 6'5 290 pound frame. "I won the offensive line MVP. My 40 time was slow but I repped 185 lbs 20 times. I also did great during all of the 1 on 1 drills."
Last season for the Mauldin Mavericks Hudson was unsure of his blocking grades or amount of knockdowns but he did touch on some areas that he felt were his strongest points currently. "I think I did pretty good on pass blocking. I'd say my strongest parts of my game right now would be my strength and pass blocking. I need to continue to work on my speed and doing what it takes to get to the next level. My best games last year were probably against Byrnes and Hillcrest."
Speaking of the next level Hudson has already started to receive early interest from some prominent programs in the southeast region. "I'm already hearing from Clemson, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech." Asked which of those schools seems to be showing the most interest he answered, "North Carolina and Clemson probably." The 2010 prospect also divulged his early favorites were Clemson and North Carolina.
Hudson also talked about what games he's most looking forward to next season when the Mavericks hit the field. "I'm looking forward to playing Byrnes because they are beatable! I'm also looking forward to playing Hillcrest because they are our rivals."
