Isaiah King Profile

In the past month Byrnes WR Isaiah Jazz King has what we in the recruiting business call, "BLOWED UP!" It started almost a month ago when the Nike SPARQ series cam to Byrnes and King placed 2nd only to fellow 2010 standout RB Marcus Lattimore. What King did however was post the 2nd highest score by a wide receiver nationally since last season. A little over a week ago he was at it again. He gave us the lowdown in this exclusive interview.

"I went with Brandon Willis, Torian Richardson, Nick Jones, and Corey Miller down to Columbia to compete in Schuman's National Underclassmen Combine. We represented Byrnes and ourselves very well. Torian told us what to expect since he was the only one to compete in this event last year, in which he won. Brandon won strongest man (he had 25 reps at 185) and was named the best defensive lineman. Nick won best wide receiver. I won the MVP of the entire combine. Nick and I killed the one on ones. I put up some good numbers. I don't remember all my scores exactly but I think I had the best vertical and broad jump. I also was in top five with my forty and shuttle (even though I slipped). My bench was my weak point I only had 14 reps. Torian also had a pretty good day too. My brother and Nick's dad said Cory and Brandon dominated in one on ones as well."

Since we introduced you to King first things have picked up significantly. "I had a severe foot sprain that happened at the NUC combine so I have a space boot on right now. I got an automatic invite to the Ultimate 100 combine in Atlanta, GA by winning the MVP at the NUC combine. Coach Miller also told me that Auburn is asking a lot about me (Coach Price saw me during spring practice while looking at Ricco Sanders) and I've also started to receive mail from North Carolina. The Florida Gators were at the school for our breakfast of champions, and Coach Srock said they like me a lot. I've also received mail from Michigan here recently.

Although he's currently sidelined Jazz is anxious to get back into action he says. "Hopefully they will let me practice next week. We will be at Presbyterian on the 14th and North Alabama Elite 7 on 7 from the 19th thru the 21st." SCPrepNation.com will be in attendance at the Presbyterian 7 on 7's to watch all of the SC teams in attendance.

King also performed extremely well at the Under Armour/Scout.com combine in Charlotte last month. The 2010 prospect talked about his experience while in Charlotte. "I got a chance to talk to and meet a lot of new people. It felt good when Demario Jeffery and others were asking me how many receptions and yards I had this season. He thought I started and he felt like I was one of the best receivers there. I am going to work even harder though because I want to be the best."

Given his work ethic on the field and in the classroom it appears the Jazz King will indeed be on his way to becoming one of the next big stars out of Byrnes High. SCPrepNation.com will keep you updated with the very latest recruiting scoop about Jazz King and everything concering South Carolina's best players so stay tuned.
