Tyrell Edwards: Hoping To Land More Offers

Tyrell Edwards has been hitting the '08 camp circuit hard and heavy this summer with one thing in mind, more scholarship offers. The rising senior has already made stops in Blacksburg and Winston Salem. Find out where else the Marlboro County standout will be trekking to this summer.

Summertime is generally a busy time of the year for prospective student-athletes. For some prospects, it is the time when they make their rounds to various campuses, in order to evaluate the programs that have already extended them offers. For others, it is the ideal time for them to showcase their talents at various camps in front of college coaches. Such is the case with Marlboro County's Tyrell Edwards.

Tyrell has been putting in a lot of time at various combines/camps this summer. He has already made trips to Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, and has several other stops on his agenda before the conclusion of this summer. "Yes sir, it's going to be a pretty busy one for me," Tyrell said. "I've got a few more camps to go to this summer. I'll probably go to North Carolina State, North Carolina, and Maryland."

Tyrell currently has two scholarship offers to his name, courtesy of the Big Ten and the SEC. Not bad considering the fact that he missed the majority of last season on the gridiron. "I really didn't get to play that much at all last year," Edwards told SCPrepNation.com. "But I still managed to pick up two scholarship offers. I have one from Illinois and one from Vanderbilt. So, things have been moving along pretty good for the most part."

Standing at 6-4, 220 pounds Tyrell unquestionably possesses great size for the next level. He is a very versatile athlete who brings a number of skills to the table. Having that being said, the all-around athlete gave us a little insight on what college coaches like about him as an athlete. "Most coaches that have seen me in action talk about how well I use my feet," Edwards said. "At linebacker, they really like the way I move. At the tight end spot, they feel like I have really good hands." Tyrell also plays a little bit of QB for Marlboro County…

Being that Tyrell has such a broad range of skills; it is somewhat up in the air where he will be lining up primarily next fall. However though, we are certain that he will make a huge impact wherever he's placed. Keep an ear out for this gifted young man, for his best days are yet to come…
