Well we finally were able to track down Northwestern High School's other defensive end, Hakeem Adams. Like his teammate and good friend, Dwaney Mills, Adams is almost a carbon copy bookend in terms of size. Hakeem checks in at 6'3 and 215 pounds. A year ago the 2009 prospect put together an outstanding season for the Trojans and he talked about it and updated us concerning his recruitment as well.
Teams had a hard time keeping Adams and Mills out of the offensive backfield and Hakeem put up some big numbers as we state before. "I had 112 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries." The numbers alone speak volumes but he said one game in particular is where he turned it up another notch. "My best game was North Augusta, I had 14 tackles, 4 sacks, and a forced fumble. It was a memorable game for me because I felt like my team and I had something to prove if we wanted to be heard about in this state."
Staying on the subject of last season Adams offered some more tidbits. "Clover was the toughest team we faced. The toughest players we faced last year were Chris Douglas, Steve Sanders, Stephon Gilmore, Jonathan Meeks, Charles Holmes, and Marcus Lattimore."
Three teams so far have been showing Adams the most interest so far. "Tennessee, North Carolina State, and LSU are the schools I hear the most from. Tennessee is recruiting me the hardest. I am looking the most at Tennessee right now but I am open to anyone who wants to recruit me."
For Adams this offseason will be spent working towards improving in hopes of landing some scholarship offers. The key areas he says he'll focus on are playing down blocks and staying alert at all times while on the field. At this point he says a few factors have keyed him to his success thus far on the field. "My speed, Strength, quickness, ability to read the blocks, and being able to play as a team player are my strongest points."
Hakeem reports a 2.5 core GPA and plans on taking the SAT and ACT soon.
