Byron Best: A Man Of Patience

If there is anyone who knows about patience, it would have to be Greenwood High's Byron Best. With only one offer in hand, the talented cornerback has been "PATIENTLY" waiting for the next program to step up with an offer. SCPrepNation.com touch bases with the gifted lockdown corner from Greenwood, SC to get the very latest.

Byron Best has been receiving attention from a vast array of college programs across the country. However, only one program has stepped up early on to offer the Greenwood High corner. "North Carolina is still the only school that has offered me," Best said. "But I know that more are going to come. I just have to be patient and wait for my time. It's all about timing."

"It could have been worse," Best continued. "It could have been to where I didn't have any offers. Believe me; I am very grateful for the offer that I do have. There are a lot of great athletes out there that have not been offered. So I'm not taking it for granted at all."

Recently after receiving the offer from the Tarheels, Best took a trip up to Chapel Hill with two of his teammates, D.J. Swearinger, and Sam Montgomery. "The trip to North Carolina went really well," Best told SCPrepNation.com. "They have a really nice campus. UNC is a very good school education-wise too."

Byron's summer tour also included a stop in Columbia, SC, to check on the Gamecocks, and a trip to Athens, GA to check on SEC power, Georgia. "I camped at Georgia this summer," the gifted corner said. "It went really well. I got a chance to check out some of their facilities; they were very nice. Everywhere you went, you would see the Big G."

Best took the SAT earlier this month, and he along with several college coaches are waiting for the results. "I'm just waiting on my test scores," Best said. "A lot of schools are waiting for my scores as well. I really think that's when more schools are going to offer me."

Best has already been preparing for that special day, the day when his recruitment takes top flight. He is very confident that it's only a matter of time before things break loose with his recruitment. With that being said, he has already been thinking about what he'll be taking in consideration whenever it's time for him to make his decision.

"I'm going to be looking at the atmosphere, the type education that I can get, and playing time," Best said. "There are just so many good schools out there. I know it's probably going to be a hard decision, but I'm just going to have to go with a school that suits me."
