SCPrepNation.com recently caught up with free safety prospect, Julian Baxter. The Midlands Area native currently stands around 6-1, 176 pounds, and clocks an impressive 4.5 in the forty-yard dash.
With Baxter's junior season on the horizon, the expectation level will be high for the Lugoff-Elgin star. However, there is one question, is he willing to step up and except the challenge? "Yes sir, I'm ready for this season to start," the projected three year starter replied. "I'm ready to take things to the next level. "I've been working very hard this summer, trying to get faster and stronger. One of my goals for this season is to get at least 6 interceptions."
Baxter's name is not well-know on the recruiting boards just yet, but that doesn't mean that schools don't already know about him. "Nobody is seriously recruiting me right now, but a couple of schools already know who I am," Baxter explained. "Clemson and Presbyterian came by our school, and my coach talked to both of them about me. Princeton has been sending me a few letters, asking me to come to one of their camps."
In an effort to raise his stock to another level, Julian has been participating in the '08 combine circuit this summer. The most recent event he competed in was the, Schuman's National Underclassmen Combine. "I did really well at the one that was held in Columbia," Baxter said. "Then I was invited to the one in Atlanta, GA for regional. I did ok, but I thought I could have done better. It was a great experience. There was a lot of talent out there."
Julian doesn't have any immediate plans in regards to where else he'll be camping this summer. For now he will continue working hard in preparation for the upcoming 2008 season.
