During the 2008 high school football season, the Panthers will honor ten elite student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom, as well as play an active role in their respective communities with the great honor and distinction of being a Community Captain. In order to be considered for a Community Captain award, the player must meet the following criteria:
- Mandatory 3.0 GPA or higher
- Division I Football Recruit/Potential Scholarship Athlete
- Voluntary Community Service Record (Ex. Camp Instructor, Participation with School Food Drive/Toys for Tots program, Mission Trips, Visits to Nursing Home/Hospital, Participation with Local Boys & Girls Club/YMCA programs, or other worthwhile outreach service projects).
Winners will receive an authentic Community Captain jersey and will have the opportunity to participate in select team community events with current Panthers players. In addition, all Community Captains will be honored during an on-field ceremony at the Panthers home game versus the Denver Broncos on December 14.
