John Brown Profile

It's been an up and down season for 2009 Battery Creek DT prospect John Brown and his teammates. Currently 3-5 on the season they are coming off a big victory last Friday. Brown has been playing pretty well so far in 2008 and a couple of school head his current list of favorites. In fact, Brown has already made a visit and has intentions on making a few more in the near future.

"I went up to South Carolina State. It was pretty good. I got to talk to Coach Drayton. They said they are getting film on me and want to see me work on the defensive line. He said he'll watch the film and hopefully watch the film and show it to the rest of the coaches and go from there. Hopefully if they like what they see they'll offer me."

Other schools remain in the hunt actively for Brown as well. "Wofford and Coastal Carolina are the other schools who are contacting me a lot. "My coach told me that Coastal Carolina will be down soon and they'll try to figure out something so that I can come up and make a visit to see their campus soon."

With the Terriers of Wofford Brown says he really enjoys the way they bond as a team and really push that aspect to their recruits.

Currently Brown reports a 3.2 overall GPA in the classroom and says he is awaiting his scores to come back after taking the SAT.

So far this year one game stands out in his mind as his best thus far. "The Ridgeland game was my best one so far. I say that game because when I stepped out there I played my heart out. I was a force to be reckoned with. I had about 10 tackles I think my coaches told me."

Brown has faced some tough competition already this season and one player in particular stands out in his memory. "Beaufort's Duane Chisolm is the toughest dude I've played against. He's a very good all-around player. He executes his moves and gets off the ball well. It was my biggest challenge of the season blocking him on the offensive line."

Playing on both sides of the ball down in the trenches has been a good experience for Brown as he's learning to be a versatile player. He sees both ends of the spectrum and has been able to take those tricks of the trade and add them to his own arsenal and memory to combat opponents he faces. will have more updates on John Brown so keep it dialed in right here as we are the #1 source for everything regarding South Carolina's top high school football and basketball prospects.
