A look at some of the most recent offers extended to Palmetto State prospects. An early look as basketball is set to get underway as well. Come inside for news and tidbits from this week's Recruiting Notebook.

First and foremost, this is premium subcriber information, please do not repost or print this information.

  • Elliott Alford claims an offer from the Florida Gators. We have not been able to confirm this with anyone at UF so we'll have to see. Our sources say the Gators have their 2010 class QB scholarship filled but possibly Alford is being looked at for another position.
  • 2011 Lake City RB Shon Carson has picked up his first scholarship offer from the Clemson Tigers. It is a verbal offer obviously but Carson is on the fast track to be a top 5 prospect in the 2011 class from the looks of things currently. The multiple sport star also earned a baseball scholarship offer from the Tigers as well. More news could be coming soon about football offer #2 but we'll wait for that final confirmation before reporting it.
  • 2010 Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore has 2 more offers. Texas offered him a few weeks back and Rutgers offered him Tuesday. Marcus says he's going to take a hard look at everyone with no favorites at this point in time. It was believed that he is a heavy SEC lean but we'll see how this one plays out.
  • 2009 Greenwood DE Sam Montgomery will start narrowing things down soon. Some feel he may already have an idea of his favorites right now. My read of his situation right now has a few of the regional schools sitting pretty. Don't be surprised if some schools offer him a chance to walk-on for basketball to try and increase their chances of landing his commitment.
  • On the hoops front we will be at Robbie Dreher's press conference where he'll sign with the Winthrop Eagles. Stay tuned for a photo gallery and video interview to talk about his upcoming senior season and chase for back to back AA state titles.
  • Down the road from Southside resides J.L. Mann superstar SG Damien Leonard. In-state schools Clemson and South Carolina are making the 4-star prospect a high priority. Word is Leonard has worked feverishly to improve other aspects of his game since the AAU circuit ended so we're anxious to see him in action during jamboree play There's also an early season matchup against the aforementioned Dreher who Leonard is looking forward to going head to head against.
  • Richland Northeast and other schools will be participating in the Southside Jamboree so we'll get a closer look at Malcolm Rhett and Larry Sumter. We'll also try to bring you guys video highlights and interviews with as many players as possible so stay tuned.
  • Back to football...stay tuned for an update with Logan Stewart of Boiling Springs High. The offensive lineman is growing now checking in at 6'5 265 pounds. All indications point to Logan being one of the top linemen in the state in the 2010 class as his early interest is a who's who of the top college programs in the southeast early on.
  • Also look out for an update with 2010 Chapman RB Reggie Davis. This past season wasn't as spectacular as his 1900 yard sophomore performance but that hasn't stopped a number of southeastern colleges from taking a hard look at the 5'11 191 pound speedster.
  • Haven't heard a whole lot from Spartanburg QB Cornelius Jones so we'll see if we can contact him and head coach Freddie Brown to see how things are progressing with his recruitment for an update. Things have been relatively quiet since the reported Michigan offer at the beginning of the season.
  • Congrats goes out to Lake City's Stevenson Gaston as he picked up an offer from Air Force. The Air Force staff has clearly made South Carolina a state to recruit heavily and over the course of a few season we could be looking at a pipeline situation for the service academy.

Stay tuned...more to come from as we continue to bring you the very best and most content each and every week when it comes to SC's top football and basketball prep prospects.
